1. Did this one a few weeks ago, but here’s my interview with young L.A. producer/DJ Shlohmo.  Check out his stuff if you’re not familiar.

  2. Continuing my journey to write for every single publication, I wrote a few short album reviews for Canada’s best free music magazine Exclaim! recently, including the debut offerings from Lunice and Hudson Mohawke’s side-project TNGHT (which came out a few months ago, but it’s still one of my favourite EPs of the year) and Toronto-based producer (and The Weeknd’s ex-BFF) Zodiac. Click the link to read the former and here to read the latter.

  3. Here’s my interview with Abbortsford, B.C.’s Teen Daze for The AV Club. Super nice guy and his new album ain’t too shabby either.

  4. Ryan Hemsworth is my favourite Nova Scotian making music right now. I got him to make The AV Club a playlist of some tunes that he’s been digging lately and he was kind enough to oblige. After you’re done reading this, I’d suggest you check out this 75 minute mix he did of trunk-rattling Southern hip-hop, old-school video game soundtracks, and weird pop music.

  5. Japandroids - “Wet Hair (Teen Daze Remix)”

British Columbia, you’ve got it going on. Got the chance to interview up-and-coming electronic producer Teen Daze before his debut Toronto show last week and he’s a super nice guy. He hails from Abbortsford in the scenic Fraser Valley and he has a new album coming out in a few weeks called All Of Us, Together. Here’s his excellent reworking of a tune by my favourite Vancouver duo. P.S. - I’ve heard Japandroids’ upcoming Celebration Rock and it doesn’t disappoint. It’s only May, but I guarantee it will end up being one of my most played albums of the summer.
